GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

STEP 1. Set Barbie’s limits by placing the silhouette’s corresponding dots. Define dolls’ head, chest and pelvic.

STEP 2. Draw a face symmetry line. Sketch up neck, back and a belly.

STEP 3. Start drawing Barbie’s hands and feet. Define face position also.

STEP 4. Keep on drawing hands and feet. Do not forget to mark the hair’s position.

STEP 5. Let's move on to the garnment and accessories. Sketch the skirt with single strokes, using a smooth line define where the top shirt starts. Draw the doll’s shoes, bracelet. Get back to the face and mark the eyebrows and ears.

STEP 6. Draw a hands, left shoulder, which is hidden in the shadow.

STEP 7. Contour, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Do not forget to erase unnecessary lines and intensify your strokes. Hurray! Your Barbie is ready.
